If you are using Project Server 2003, your Project Server administrator can
remove the Remaining Work column from the Timesheet view in Project Web
Access. If you are using Project Server 2002, then you cannot hide the
Remaining Work field in PWA and would need to make the Remaining Work issue
a training item with project team members. Hope this helps.

Hi

As questioned below, is there any way to make the project manager change the
remaing work when he updates the progress sent by the team member?
It's not possible for the project manager to edit the values in this field,
which is quite annoying.

The Remaining Work field is locked for editing on the Updates page in PWA.
Thus, the project manager cannot change the Remaining Work value there.
He/she can modify the Remaining Work field at the assignment level in the
Resource Usage view in Microsoft Project, however. Sorry for the bad news.

Right now i am hiding the Remaining Work column from the time sheet view. My requirement is that if the PM estimates 4 hrs for a task and if the task is completed in 2 hrs say, then i wanted the TM itself to change the remaining work to 0 & mark the task as completed. I did want to give the option of updating the Remang work field only to selected TM.

Is there any other way by which i can achieve my objective of the selected TM altering the task or marking the task as completed

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated

You can't have it both ways. Either the team member is required to adjust
the Remaining Work as needed, or the project manager will adjust the
Remaining Work. If the team member is not allowed to see the Remaining Work
column, then they cannot indicate an early finish by setting the Remaining
Work value to 0 hours. Hope this helps.
