Remaining work not updated

Hi,
as anyone encountered a case were the remaining hours of a
task from a project plan are not being updated on
resources timesheet?

Is this some kind of bug?

I doubt anyone will reply without some specifics like what action you're
taking that you think should be updating the remaining work value.

here is an example of the sequence of events.

A resource updates his timesheet with daily hours and does
not change the remaining hours for his task, let's say
100hrs are left.
The project managers receives the updates, accepts the
changes in his project plan. He then adjusts this task by
adding say 50hours of work(for whatever reason) and now
the remaining hours on the task is 150 hours. The PM
republishes the plan (new and changed assignments).
The resource then sees the additional 50 hours of work on
his task BUT the remaining hours is still at 100.

This is my question, why or in what case is the remainng
hours not updated?

Hi Gary, sorry for taking so long.

I did some tests with the resource having the problem.
Republishing the assignment is now making the remaining
hours vary accordingly with what is in the project plan
BUT for some odd reason, this resource's timesheet is
always keeping an extra 10.5 hours of remaining hours (???)

This difference is only in the timesheet view, all other
project views (assignments details, resource work, ...)
are fine.

I suspect the initial tracking method used is kind of the
culprit (after reading a similar problem from Jerry Ewing -
"Remaining hours not updating" in this newsgroup).

Any suggestions on how I can get rid of these "ghost"
remaining hours?
Would saving the project to a file, deleting it from the
server, re-importing it back to the server and
republishing it resolve this ?

(PS. looking in the database, there is a 10.5 hours
difference (assignments vs web_assignments) in the actual
hours work. Is this the problem?)
