Reminder feature question

hello,

i was wondering if there is an option that will allow the reminder feature
to operate <still pop-up the reminder>, even if outlook is closed.

This is a client feature that requires Outlook to be running. You can always
sync your calendar with a PDA device and have that display the reminder.
