How to i move a list filter from the top of the list to another sheet.

i.e. i want a "front sheet" with various filters which will filter the
data on another sheet and display a total from the list after it has
been filtered.

You can start an Advanced Filter from the destination sheet, and refer
to the source list on the first sheet. There are sample files here:

Under Filters, look for Product List by Category
