Removal of Office 97 Pro without install disk?? Please help.

Hi!
I just recently acquired a laptop (used) that has Office 97 Pro on it. I
wish to uninstall the software, but it didn't come with the install disk.
Office will not allow uninstall without Disk 1.

Is there a workaround? Any hope? Suggestions?

Please....

This causes a lot of aggravation -- trying to get rid of a product and
they're forcing you to use it one last time...

Thanks for any replies! :)

Hi Sheila,

You should be uninstalling the application via Add/Remove Programs in the
Control Panel. The installation disk should not be required for this. The
installation disk should only be required to upgrade to a later version, or
perhaps to install patches & services packs issued by Microsoft.

Cheers

Macropod -
thanks for the reply. Yes, as you have suggested, to remove Office 97 Pro, I
have to use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. However, immediately
upon clicking Remove and Office 97 is highlighted, I am asked to "Please
insert your Microsoft Office 97 Professional CD 1" in order to contine. The
only choice I have is to click OK or Cancel. Clicking OK tells the computer
to look for the disk in the drive (which I do not have) and clicking cancel,
stops the whole process...

So, again...I'm at a dead end?

I see that Microsoft offers a tool called Eraser97 -- not sure if this is
safe to use to get rid of Office 97 Pro as Microsoft "recommends" using the
utility after using Add/Remove programs to uninstall Office 97.

Any more suggestions?
