Remove "Getting Started" toolbar

How do I avoid the Getting Started toolbar from appearing every time I start
one of the Office 2003 Basic applications? I have tried removing the "task
view " tool bar in Excel but it comes back each time.

Tools, options, view tab, clear "Startup task pane."
