Check if there is a hanging indent defined in the Normal style: Display the
Modify Style dialog box (see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ModifyAStyle.html), then click
Format, Paragraph. On the Indents and Spacing tab, set all indents to zero.
In Word 2007, you can press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S and click the Manage Styles
button. Locate the Normal style. Click Modify, Format, Paragraph. Then
proceed as above.
Remember to choose "Add to template" (Word 97-2003) or "New documents based
on this template" (Word 2007) before closing the dialog box.
If, later, you are prompted to save the Normal template, say yes.
Since Normal is the based-on ("parent") style for many other styles, the
steps above should fix the problem you are experiencing.
Note, however, that if you are using numbered headings, you should define
their indents via the Customize Outline Numbered List / Define New
Multilevel List dialog box.
