| Assistant if he clicks on "Show office assistant" in e.g
| word menu "help"
|
| I want to Assist disable completely that it wont come at
| all, but also enable it than later on.

Hello,

The following key will enable the office assistant in Office 2003:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\Common\Assistant]
"AsstState"=dword:00000015

The following key will disable it:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\Common\Assistant]
"AsstState"=dword:00000026

Hope this may help you.

Regards,
Jagadeesh.P

Thanks!

This almost cured my machine. What did cure it was a slightly different
registry path:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Assistant]
"AsstState"=dword:00000026

I stopped getting the error on startup that the assistant was not
available and I need to reinstall it.
