To be okay with installing your purchased version, you must uninstall at
least Office 2007 trial version. I would also uninstall the Word and other
programs from 97.

After furious head scratching, New asked:
| I have Word 2002 from MS Works and PowerPoint and Excel from Office
| 97 and a 60 day trial for Office 2007 on a new laptop. Now I have
| purchased the Office Home and Student 2007. Can I just load the new
| Office H&S 2007 CD or do I need to remove the old Office 97, etc.
| first?
