remove outlook password

I just upgraded to 2007. I had my .pst files in 2003 password protected, but
no longer wish to use it. I did find this same question asked and tried
typing in the old password and leaving the other two fields blank, but it
keeps telling me the password that I have typed in is incorrect. It also
prompts me twice, back to back every time I manually send and receive.

so you want to remove the password from the pst? right click on the top
level of the pst and choose properties, advanced, change password. leave the
new password field blank.

is it prompting you for the pop3 and smtp password or the pst password? Once
the pst is open in outlook, it should never ask for it again, until you
close outlook and restart it.

It's asking me for my IMAP .pst password. It asks for it twice on start up
and twice when I manually send and receive and twice when I close out of
outlook. I have tried what you suggest, but when I type the old password in
the first line and leave the new password blank it tells me that the password
that I have typed is incorrect. It is not!

When yuo say "upgraded to Outlook 2007", did you change PCs or are you using
the same PC but with a new version of Outlook? If the latter, did you
create a new mail profile when you upgraded?

Oh, and since it's an IMAP account, you don't need to keep that PST. Just
let the account create a new PST when you connect. You should first remove
the account from the mail profile, delete the PST, then add the account back
in. Do this with the Mail applet in Control Panel with Outlook closed, not
from within Outlook.

you can't change your email password in outlook. Try making a new profile -
something is screwed up and a new profile should fix it.

Hi,

Even if you forget the password for the encrypted PST file, you can
still decrypt it by using Advanced Outlook Repair. Advanced Outlook
Repair can decrypt all the encrypted data and convert it into a new
PST file that doesn't require a password. You can visit
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/problems/outlook-password.htm to get more
detailed information.

http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ contains detailed information about
Advanced Outlook Repair.

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
