Remove previously deleted archive from Outlook folders

D

Des

I previously had an archive open in Outlook that has been deleted. I do not
know what the file name was or where it was located. Even though it is
deleted, Outlook still shows it in the list of folders and does not allow me
to remove it (using "Close...") even though it knows the file is no longer
there and comes up with an error. It also does not tell me what file it is
looking for so I cannot even create a dummy file and then close it that way.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to remove the archive from the
Outlook folder list?

The easiest way to fix the issue of "ghost" .PST files is to create a new
mail profile from scratch. For most versions of Outlook, you can do this
via Control Panel | Mail | Show Profiles. If you're using Outlook 98 or 2000
in Internet Mail Only mode, though, you don't have the profile option, and
will need a different set of instructions. (It always helps to post your
Outlook version when asking a technical question.)
