remove the design background from one slide

Would someone tell me how to remove the design background from one slide
only? I am trying to put a picture and part of the design background shows.

What version are you using? The way to do this might vary by version. Try
going to the Format menu and choosing Background. Pick a color, check the
box for Omit background graphics from master, and hit Apply (not Apply
All). This should cover up everything from the master.
