Remove "Type" from Details File List

I've just installed Word 2002 and have set the File menu to display
File Details. However, I must close the file Type manually each time.
In 97 I was able to display the details and remove Type permanently.
Is there a way to do this in 2000?

Also, I'd like to use the file details list as default when inserting
pictures but each time must deal with the annoying folder/thumbnail
view. I did find a macro on the word.customize forum, but it didn't
seem to work.

I have Windows XP Pro.
