remove unintended gray background on working slide

[Grateful]

I was working along when suddenly I added a picture background, and the
background changed to a solid gray in the working slide, but in the slide
list on the left, the real background still shows. I'm using PP 2003. Can
anyone explain what happened and how to recover my ability to see the
background in my working slide?

Try going to Format|Background and changing the color there. Whether that
works or not will depend on how you added the picture background.

Thanks! That's how I always get my backgrounds in, except I right-click.
Yesterday, I could not change this gray background- it would almost budge
once in a while, i.e. part of a picture would show. I don't know what went
wrong, but it's okay now. Funny, yesterday, even a reboot didn't help.

Ah. Wish you'd mentioned that earlier. It sounds like a video driver issue.
Sometimes changing hardware acceleration will help
(http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm), otherwise, try updating your
video driver. Since it works okay today, though, maybe just file this info
away for if it ever happens again.
