Removing a link that can't be found with FIND.

I have linked spreadsheets. When the wookbooks the links
refer to have been deleted, I still get the link tying to
link when I open the spreadsheet. I have to hit cancel
every time on several links when I open a workbook. I've
tried to "find" the link, but it always can't- even when I
seach for the link "finding" in all formulas.
I can "find" the valid links though, as the find always
goes right to the cell containing the link. And, I do know
how to change a link, and how to link elsewhere or look in
a different location for the linked data.
Most of these links are a part of a vlookup formula.
How do I delete a link I can't locate in any of the cells?
