Removing brackets from phone numbers

B

Bernt

Outlook or Windows tend to add brackets to phone numbers, supposedly
surrounding area codes.

The rules do however generate wrong formatting for numbers in countries
which have moved away from area codes in their numbering scheme. And as an
increasing number of numbers become location-independent, the notion of area
codes becomes less significant.

Specific question: I live in France and have faithfully declared France as
my location under the Phone and Modem Options. France has no area codes any
longer, yet Outlook Contacts adds parentheses.

How can they be removed altogether?
