Removing Enterprise Custom Fields/Codes

I

Ivan

Is there a documented procedure or can anyone help me
remove Custom Number and Text fields from my Global
Template?

I have removed all reverences to the fields, but they
continue to be displayed in the Project / Project
Information dialog box.

How do we remove fields from Project Server 2002?

Thanks

Ivan

Hi Ivan,

How did you remove them? I might be repeating what you already did, but
here is the process:

1) Login to MSP Client as an administrator (or at least someone with access
to open/save the Enterprise Global).
2) Open the Enterprise Global from the "Tools->Enterprise Options->Open
Enterprise Global" menu items.
3) Go to the "Tools->Customize->Enterprise Fields" menu items.
4) Find the fields you want to remove and click the "Rename" button and
clear out the name.
5a) For standard fields, make sure the "Custom Attributes", "Calculation for
task and group summary rows" and "Values to Display" are all set to "None".
5b) For Outline Codes, click "Edit Lookup Table" and remove all entries.
Then, click to the "Define Code Mask" button and remove all code mask lines
and uncheck any options that might be displayed (in 2003, there are "only
codes listed..." and "Only allow new codes...").
6) Save the Enterprise Global and exit out of Project altogether (everyone
will have to do this). The next time you login, the custom fields should no
longer be there.

Ivan:

An alternate method to the procedure Bill posted is to open the Enterprise
global and use the Organizer to delete them.

Now I tried this but it didn't work, this is what I have
done in the past, but in my present environment, the
fields still appeared in the Project / project info dialog
box.

I will try it again
