Removing Interpuncts or Mid-dots between syllables

The words in all of my word documents have interpuncts or middots inserted between each syllable. I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I have tried unchecking all of the boxes in format, and removing paragraph marks, but to no avail. Any hints or suggestions?
