Removing office 2007 going back to 2003- PST files ok in 2003?

My computer has slowed to a crawl over weeks of the 2007 beta use, at
first it was great but now it takes an age to load and using it is like
wading through treakle.

I'm going to uninstall, has 2007 changed the format of all my pst files
with all my archives of email so I can't go back to 2003 or not?

In fact I feel a complete re-install of Xp to wash this thing out.

The .pst file format in Outlook 2003 is the same as in 2007.
