Removing original download package to free up disk space

R

Richard

On the packaging for my Office Home & Student 2007, it states under system
requirements: "1.5 GB of available hard-disk space; a portion of this disk
space will be freed after installation if the original download package is
removed from the hard drive." Is this something that would be beneficial to
me in my efforts to conserve disk space, and if so, how do I go about
removing the original download package from my hard drive, and will this
affect the use of the Office applications? Thanks for your help.

That means that, as always, the Setup process creates numerous temp files,
including the rollback files contained in C:\config.msi that are
automatically removed at the end of a successful installation. What you do
NOT want to remove is the Local Install Source, or LIS, that is created as a
hidden folder called \MSOCache - this contains the local source cache that is
used whenever you want to repair Office or add features...basically any
Maintenance Mode process.

An installation uses temp folders/files, after rebooting they should be auto
deleted.
Of course you can allways run Disk Cleanup
Doing so has no affect on your installed apps
