Do you just want not to see them? Click the Show/Hide ¶ button on the
Standard toolbar or press Ctrl+*. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm for some reasons why
you might want to be able to see at least some of them at times.
Do you want to remove paragraph or line breaks, tabs, etc., from the
document entirely. In the Find and Replace dialog, click the More button,
then Special. You'll see a list of such characters. It's worthwhile to
memorize some of the more frequently used codes for these, such as ^p for a
paragraph break, ^l for a line break, ^t for a tab character, etc.
