Removing Project Server 2002

I have tried removing Project Server 2002 via the add/remove function with
no success. So I have gone ahead and deleted the files and cleaned out the
registry. However, now when I try to reinstall, I am getting the following
message:

A different installgion of Microsoft Project Server has been detected on
this computer.

And it will not let me continue. Additionally, I am unable to remove the
microsoft project server\bin\ViewDrop directory. I get an access denied
message.

Any clues how to resolve this?

If it were me, I'd reinstall the OS. Troubleshooting the uninstall problem
might have been viable, but that would seem to be out of the question at
this point.

Can you get access to the drive VIA the console and, delete the rest that way?
