Removing text animations from a slide show? (PPT 98 -> 2001)

I'm trying to update a long PowerPoint slide show originally created in
Mac PowerPoint 98, using Mac PowerPoint 2001 under OS 9.2.

The slides are full of "animations" (the gimmick under which successive
bits of text or bullets in a bulleted list appear one by one). This is
causing a lot of hassle (they aren't working right, stuff on the slides
sometimes appears, sometimes doesn't appear at all); I'd like to get rid
of all of them; and I'm finding the animation tools very confusing (the
interface in PPT 2001 seems different from what I remember in PPT 98).

Anyone have any advice on this? Notably, how to just get rid of or turn
off all the animations, slide by slide, or globally?

Hi

Sounds like you need to increase the preferred RAM allocation for PPT 2001
using Finder's Get Info command. Jack it up a lot - 25000 is not too small.

This works in PC PowerPoint 2000 and should be similar in Mac 2001, I think:

Choose Slide Sorter view
Select all the slides
From the main menu, choose Slide Show, Present Animation and click OFF on
the pop-up menu that appears.

This seems to work.

Thanks, yes. I checked it later in PPTX and it does there as well, except
that as Mickey Stevens pointed out, it doesn't clear animations from
everything on the slides. It seems to remove animations from objects that
are based on master template placeholders (click here text blocks, for
example) but not to animations applied to shapes we've drawn directly on a
slide.
