removing trial version of Office 2003, breaks Outlook 2002

new system (Windows Media Center) came with 30-day trial version of Office
2003.
Removed trial version and installed Office 2002 (Office XP) Professional
instead.
It all works apart from Outlook 2002, which generates "Visual Basic C++
Runtime Error; This program has terminated prematurely" error, then exits
when OK is clicked.
Any ideas how we can make Outlook 2002 work correctly?
thanks

I'm not sure why you think removing Office 2003 would break
Outlook 2002 if Outlook 2002 wasn't on the computer at the same
time as Office 2003. Did you really remove the Office 2003 trial
version *before* installing Office XP Pro? Or did you install
Office XP Pro first? Have you run Detect and Repair on Office XP?

Another idea: If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try
disabling the Office Plugin that comes with it. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.

well, Outlook 2002 is the only bit of Office 2002 which refuses to work,
having uninstalled the trial version of Office 2003 before installing (for
the first time) Office XP.
whatever.
did find a fix, though, buried at the bottom of this page:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011402821033.aspx
Outllok /cleanprofile enabled us to remove the existing profile and create a
new one. whereupon, Outlook 2002 now starts fine.

Wow, I've never used "Outlook /cleanprofile". Many thanks for
writing back with the solution that worked for you.
