REMOVING Watermarks

C

Cat

I am using the brochure template in Word/Office for MacX to create a
project due tomorrow. I am unable to remove the watermark in the
template. I have tried clicking the "no watermark" tab in insert
several times. I even tried adding a new text watermark that would
work with the project, hoping that it would remove the default
watermark. I tried creating a new document-twice-but copying my text
takes the watermark to the new document, too.

Please advise how I can remove the watermark!

Thanks
Cat

The watermark is a graphic image embedded into the text, but with a position
assigned to it to centre it on the page.

You can't select it to delete it because it is behind a text box in the
middle of the page. Select the text box (click in the box, then click on the
edge of the box), hit cmd-X to cut the box out, then you can select and
delete the image. Then hit cmd-V to paste the text box back into place.

No, that doesn't work either. I can remove the text box easily enough,
but the watermark will not highlight, box, or change in anyway. Nor is
it centered in the template boxes. I tried the watermark tab under
insert again, too. No response there. Other suggestions? This is
very frustrating.

Can you say what template you are using? Then I can take a look and maybe
identify the problem.

Try View Header/Footer, and see if you can select and delete it then. Often
Watermarks are embedded in the header/footer. The Insert | Watermark
command supposedly handles this, but it doesn't do well with multiple
headers/footers, so you might wind up deleting it from part of your document
and have to repeat this step.

If that doesn't work, be sure to say what template, and provide the link if
you got it off the web instead of installed with Office.

The Template is for the Brochure in Office Word - the example is for a
Ski and
Spa - hence the snowflake! It took about an extra hour this morning to
work out something new into a blank document-which is great, but
doesn't solve the problem, so thanks for following up with me.

I did try using the header/footer view, but it didn't seem to help me
find a box to delete the first time. I will try that again tomorrow,
and see if it helps.

See if this helps -

Go to Tools>Customize>Customize Menus & Toolbars - Commands page. Choose All
Commands from the Categories list then scroll down in the Commands list to
locate the DrawSelectAll command & drag it to a toolbar (I keep a copy on
the Drawing Toolbar as well as on the Formatting Toolbar).

When you OK out click the new button & it will select all objects that
aren't set to InLine with Text. If it doesn't get caught in the text layer
go into Header/Footer & try it there. Doesn't seem to be ay way you can
avoid finding it if you use this tool... Of course, Murphy's often been
known to poke a blunt stick in one's eye on occasion ;-)

BTW - I can't find that template *anywhere* either - Project Gallery,
Mactopia templates _or_ WinWord templates on line. Must be unique to S/T
Edition, but I find that quite odd.

is it possible that it came with the Office v. X edition and Cat moved it
into 2004? v. X had more templates, I think.

Can't be sure, but from the way the posts read I would tend to doubt it.

It's probably moot as I fear Cat's deadline has passed :(

Hey fellas, Catching up - we had a parade and unveilng for a
Suffragist's Memorial here today. Tennssee was the deciding vote in
ratiiying the 19th amendment! Our new statue is in Knoxville. So,
I've been busy celebrating for the last several hours.

As to my project, one of the suggestions about moving the text blocks
allowed me to paste my text, maintaining the 3 panel format, into a
blank document, without taking the watermarks with me. In THAT way, I
was able to complete the project on time. YIPPEE!

I still need to work this out and with regard to the integrity of the
programming, I'll need to check that one out, because I was on a PC
before this Mac. And unfortunately, I still haven't been able to take
the classes for training that the store offers me.

That's next on my list. Anyway, thanks for the positive attempts to
help - greatly appreciated and I'll remember to use this in the future
if I'm stuck - it really was very helpful!

Cat ;)
