Removing Windows Messaging (aka Exchange32)

Howdy,
I'm trying to completely uninstall Office97 and am
hitting snags. The most recent is Windows Messaging (not
Messenger), aka Exchange32, which is a "shared component"
and so locks up my Office uninstall routine. Rockets CPU
usage and eventually (<5 min.) sets off the overheat
alarum. How should I remove it, and how to regain it
later (prob. on the WinXP disc...)?
Pleasure to hear your advice.
Thanks, Kento.
