Rename a Project

Brett

Our company has standardized the naming conventions for projects. I
need to be able to change the name on a project. I have followed
suggetions posted on this group by copying and publishing the copy.
However, all the timesheet information that each employee has posted
hours to the old project in PWA is not copied. Therefore, I loose all
the day-by-day timesheet information if I follow the suggested
process. Employees can no longer look back on their timesheet to
actual hours worked on the project since the old project is deleted
and the new project doesn't have the previous timesheet information.
I've only done this on one project but I have many other projects
whose name I need to change but I don't want to loose the past
timesheet information from the old project. Any suggestions?

Thanks....Brett

Open the project in question, then click Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments. In the dialog box, select the "Overwrite actual work entered
by resources" option and then click OK. Doing so will "push" the actual
work values from the project plan to each user's timesheet in PWA. Hope
this helps.

When you push the actual work back to the timesheets don't forget you
will be overwriting any timesheet data input between when you saved a
copy of the plan and when you re-published it.
