Renaming a Project Server

Hello all,

I have been looking everywhere and can not figure out how to rename a
server. We are taking our server out of development so we need to
change the name from phxprojectdev to phxproject.

I thought this would be fairly straightforward but apparently it is
not. Here is the error I am getting after the rename.

Error Type:
ADODB.Recordset (0x800A0CC1)
Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested
name or ordinal.
/projectserver/Library/pjquery.asp, line 658

Thank in advance,
Dan

In order to do this you'll need to edit numerous records in the Project
Server database, the SharePoint databases and the system registry. I'm sorry
that I don't have a step-by-step prescription for you. Have fun.

From my experience with SharePoint Portal Server, I would be of the opinion
that the best way to do this is to back up the databases, back up the
e-global template, reinstall with the new name and recover the data. See the
Disaster Recovery document for a guide.

Good Luck

I looked into the disaster recovery guide before posting and it said I
had to restore to a server of the same name. Is this only if I don't
make the database changes?

Also, do you know or is there documentation on where in the database
the changes will need to be made? I found one spot, but it seemed
somewhat irrelevant.

Thanks,
Dan

I have Visio ERD diagrams of the ProjectServer DB and the Project DB if that
is of any help. I will be happy to e-mail them to you on Mon.

That would be helpful in manually tracking down information. I look
forward to seeing them.

Thanks,
Dan
