Renaming a project

Michelle

Once a project is imported to Project Server, is there a
way to rename the project? Or do you have to save another
copy then delete the existing? The edit button does not
allow for renaming.

If you are using Project Server 2002, you must do the following to rename
the project:

1. Open the project
2. Click File - Save As - Save as File
3. Save the project as an .mpp file
4. Delete the project from the Project Server database
5. Import the project again and give it the correct name

If you are using Project Server 2003, you can rename a project using the
Rename Project Utility, available for download from Microsoft at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-f0ff-4846-9ec1-4add5e493fa6&DisplayLang=en

Hope this helps.

Good day Michelle,
short answer: can't rename, must save new plan.
1 caveat: if you use WebAccess timesheets, you MUST follow
these steps to avoid loosing timesheet entries, otherwise
start at step #3:

1. ask all your resources to update their timesheets &
send them to the PM
2. approve the timesheets & notify the resources not to
make any changes to their timesheets.
3. open the project and perform a ''File\Save as''
4. perform a Collaborate\Publish\Republish Assignments
5. before launching the publish, select the ''Republish
assignments for'' as ''Entire Project'', and
select ''Overwrite actual work entered by resources''
6. destroy the old version of the plan

....and then you're back on track!
