Renaming Coulums?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I know it must be super easy but I cant figure out for the life of me how to rename a column. I want to switch where it says "A" to something else.

Columns can either be labeled "A", "B", "C", ... or "1", "2", "3".
Nothing else.

You can, of course, put your labels in Row 1, then hide the row/column
headers.
