Rendering HTML in Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 no longer uses Internet Explorer to render HTML, and has
reverted to the inferior Word 'engine' instead. Publisher 2007 claims to make
sending email newsletters easy, and uses Outlook 2003 or 2007 for this
purpose.

Question: Given the decision to remove IE HTML rendering from Outlook 2007,
how will Publisher 2007 deliver the goods?

The rendering engine only matters when email is being rendered (i.e.
viewed) - it doesn't affect what can be sent.

Thanks Ed for taking the trouble to reply.

Fair point, but it doesn't solve the problem.

I may be happy with the fine-looking email newsletter that I create in
Publisher, but if I am not confident that my target audience can view the end
product *as I intended* then that is not satisfactory for me.

What I am saying is that there is a disconnect between the claims made re
Publisher 2007's ability to create and send email newsletters and the reality
that recipients may not be able to see what the sender thinks he's sending.

This is not efficient or rational. There is simply no point in putting
effort into good layout etc without the certainty that the end result is
meaningul in design terms.

WYSIWYG is a pretty basic concept in computing. The disparity between what
Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 can produce and what Microsoft Office Outlook
2007 can render pretty much debases this concept. It's more like WYSMKLWYG,
with MKL= "maybe kinda like".

Season's greetings for the time of year that's in it!

Non-Microsoft email clients have already had problems reading
Publisher-generated email newsletters; Microsoft is just levelling the
playing field <g>.

I avoid creating emails with Publisher at all costs, and generally
advise that others do the same, so can't comment on their compatibility
with Outlook 2007.
