was notified that a company was going to renew a subscription by email with
the credit card they have on file. The email stated to contact them within
30-60 days if I wished to cancel. I notified them within 4 hours. I told
them they had no legal right to do this w/o my authority, cancel the
subscription immediately, DO NOT CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD; I then followed their
procedure for the cancellation via return email. I received nothing. On the
third day, I called the company, spoke to one of their reps, recited above,
cancelled above. I told the staffer I wanted written confirmation of said
cancellation. The staffer said I would receive a written verification of
cancellation within 3-5 business. That was 8 days ago. Tried
again........no results. My concern is that their M.O. is to ignore all
emails, even the phone calls, allow the time to go by and then say I waited
too long. Please help me. I really want the $75+ charge removed but would
further appreciate if someone knows of who handles such issues as this and I
will send a report to them as well. The products is McAfee Firewall
Protection and Virus Scanner. Way before any subscription may have possibly
been do,I replace McAfee along time ago w/Microsoft protection protucts.

You are completely in the wrong place for this, but...

You could start a blog somewhere (www.blogger.com, www.typepad.com,
spaces.msn.com) and share your story so it is archived and searchable by
all.

Then there is the California Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney
General's Office.

Then you go here:
http://www.mcafee.com/us/contact/home.htm
And you CALL every number on that page, starting with support, every day
until you are satisfied. Document each unsatisfactory call on your blog.
Remind them of their "Ethics First" program. Followup each call with an
email thanking them for their time and let them know you will call back in a
few days to share with them the progress of the resolution. Don't forget to
tell them about your blog.

Then you buy a share in McAfee. (NYSE, MFE, $24.44 today) Request some mic
time at the next shareholders meeting. Tell all the investors there what
McAfee does to customers who are as 'old as dirt'. Tell them about your
blog.

Probably, you should just be a little patient and followup with them again.

I can't really help because I dumped McAfee for ... well... nothing. I feel
much safer that way. But that's me.

Thank you William. Sorry i used the wrong forum. Did not know where to go. At
any rate, you are helpful and amusing. It is kind of hard to distinguish
between both. Appreciate the effort.
