Renumbering WBS using the Project/WBS pull down window

I have MS Project 2003 Standard: I wish to renumber an existing WBS. The Help
instructions say: Select Project, then WBS, then Renumber, then Entire
project. When I select Project, then WBS,the window is locked in the "Define
Code" mode. The Renumber option is muted and cannot be selected. Icannot
proceed.
What am I doing wrong?
How can I renumber an existing WBS?

The Renumber option is only available if you have defined a coding scheme
for your WBS. The only renumbering you can do is to clear any values you
have entered and revert back to the original WBS values. To do this for your
entire plan, display the WBS field in your Gantt chart, select the column
header and select Edit/Clear/All.

Thank you BJ, your clear reply solved my problem.
Once I defined the coding scheme, I was able to Renumber using your include
that warning.

Thank you, BJ. Your clear reply solved my problem. Once I defined the WBS
Code, I was able to use both your method AND the original MS Project Help
method to Renumber. It is unfortunate that MS Help did not include the
warning: Define the Code first, if not already defined.
