repair a pre installed version on Outlook 2007?

Hi,
A customer of mine has a laptop that had a preinstalled version of Office
2007 on it. I just added our Serial number and set up Outlook. He is the
other side of the country now and everytime he tries to send or forward an
email he gets an error message telling him that Outlook needs to shut down.
I have tried starting it in Safe mode but get the same problem. We have also
done an Office repair using the utility that comes with it. This found
nothing wrong but we still have the same problem. Is there anything else
that I can try (over the phone)? If all else fails and we need to reinstall
Outlook, how is this done if the laptop comes Office 2007 ready?
Cheers
Lenny

You could try a repair install of Outlook (from Add/Remove Programs).
Reinstalling Outlook will likely not help the situation; you should try
to find out the cause for the Outlook crash. Have the event logs checked
(Applications, at the time of the crash).

If he produces a new profile how does he import his emails and contacts from
the old one?

Before deleting the old profile, check the name and location of his
Personal Folders File. After creating a new profile, add that same PST
file. Don't use Import!

Thanks for the input. He has used the add/remove programs to reinstall and
for the moment it seems to be working again. I must say, that never happens
for me! He must be having a good week.
Thanks again.
