Repeating dashes

There is a feature in word 2000 that repeats the dash character and fills
the whole line if you type too many of them. Where do you turn the feature
on/off? I turned it off once but can't find it again.

Stephen,
Depending on your Word version. Choose Tools - AutoCorrect or AutoCorrect
options. On the tab AutoFormat as you type their should be an entry that you
can uncheck, near the middle of the screen borders or something to that
effect. Hit OK. That should get rid of it.
