I'm experiencing what appears to be a random problem when
saving MS-Word 2002 (XP) files in RTF.
After saving a file and closing MS-Word, the reopening the
file, all characters in the file are replaced with a
repeating 'ÿ' character.
Sometimes, but not all the time, when attempting to reopen
the file, MS-Word prompts me with a 'YES/NO' dialog
reading:
"Microsoft Word needs a converter to display this file
correctly. This feature is not currently installed.
Would you like to install it now?"
When attempting to install whatever converters are
required, the install program prompts for the OfficeXP CD
and looks for a file named 'PRO.MSI'. No file with that
name exists on the OfficeXP CD.
I can't find this with several searches in the InfoBase.
Is this a known problem with a known solution?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Please E-mail your
reply to (e-mail address removed).
Thanks muchly.
