Replace image without losing animations?

I've revised an image and want to replace the image in PP, but the image in
PP has animations.

I can delete and insert the new image, then reanimate.

Is there any way to update the current PP image without losing the
animations?

What Glen said. Another way you can try out is:
Save the ppt as html. (Click File > Save as. Select Web Page under Save as
type)
Open the output folder, and look for the picture. Replace it with a new
picture that you want, and at the same time, ensure that the filename still
remain the same.

For example, if the filename is slide0001_image001.jpg, rename the new
picture as slide0001_image001.jpg and overwrite the original picture.
Now, open PowerPoint.

Click File > Open. Open the presentation (in .htm format) and resave it as
normal presentation.

Shawn,

Good point! Thanks!

I haven't tried this. Does the size of the image you replace matter?

Thank you both for your suggestions. I've got reservations about doing the
background method. I depend a lot on image resizing, have a lot of images
and existing slides. Not sure I want to change how images are added.

If there's an add-in that works with existing images any recommendations
appreciated.

Does PP 2007 have any new property which would allow revising the image?

an easier tomorrow

Hi KC

Yep, 2007 has a 'replace image' feature which retains animations.

As Glen said, there are add-ins that you may find useful if you are not on
2007 yet - one that I find indispensible is animation carbon which allows you
to copy animation from one object to another and to build your own library of
animtions: http://skp.mvps.org/ac/index.html

Yes, the size does matter. You can though resize it after the replace.

Thoughts please...

- should I invest in an add-in for PP 2003

- should I invest in PP 2007

There are more new features in PowerPoint 2007 than "Replace image". Have a
look at the new version (either on a friend's computer or install the free
60-day-trial-version) and see whether you like it. And then decide what to
purchase.

Best regards,
