Replace the view Gantt Chart in "Global (+ non-cached Enterprise)" with ...

Hello,
Since I installed the SP1 and IU in Project Professional 2007, I have a new
dialog box when I rename a Gantt view in the organizer, and then I try to
copy it in the Global.MPT. This dialog presents 2 options:

- Replace the view Gantt Chart in "Global (+ non-cached Enterprise)" with
the view xx from Project x.
- Copy the view Gantt x from "Project x" to Global (+ non-cached
Enterprise)" and breaks its connection with the view "Gantt x" in Global (+
non-cached Enterprise)".

I tried both but I'm not sure about the differences in the result of the
copy.
Do you know the philosophy and the expected result of this new feature?
Thanks

Robert --

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying, for example, to create a
new enterprise View that is based on the default Gantt Chart view? If that
is the case, I would recommend you do the following:

1. Open any enterprise project in Read-Only mode.
2. Click View - Table - More Tables.
3. Select the Table you want to copy, such as the Entry table and click the
Copy button.
4. Give the Table a unique name that clearly identifies it as an enterprise
Table. (our company prefaces every enterprise View, Table, Filter, and Group
with _msPE, for example).
5. Click the OK button and then click the Close button.
6. Click View - More Views.
7. Select the Gantt Chart view and click the Copy button.
8. Give the View a unique name to identify it as an enterprise View (see
step #4 above).
9. Select the Table created in step #4 above.
10. Select a different Filter or Group, as needed.
11. Click the OK button and then click the Apply button to test the new
View in a real project.

At this point you have created a new Table and View, and have tested them.
If there are problems, edit the View or Table as needed. When you are
satisfied that the new View works as needed, then copy it to the Enterprise
Global as follows:

1. Leave the Read-Only project open since it contains your new custom View
and Table.
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Open Enterprise Global.
3. Click Tools - Organizer.
4. Click the Views Available In pick list in the lower left corner and
select the Read-Only project.
5. Select the new View on the left and click the Copy button.
6. Click the Tables tab, select the new Table on the left, and click the
Copy button.
7. Click the Close button.
8. Save and close the Enterprise Global file.
9. Close the Read-Only project without saving it.
10. Exit Project Professional 2007 and relaunch the software.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Sorry, my question was not explicit enough. I'm a simple Project Manager and
I don't have any access to the Enterprise global. I just want to copy a
customized and renamed Gantt Chart in my Global.MPT so that I will be able
to use it in every of my projects.
My problem is that I don't understand the meaning of the options in the new
dialog which appears when I do that. I tried several tests but I don't see
any steady result.
Thanks for your help.
