Replaced the wrong existing file, how do I recover it?

Was updating a powerpoint presentation. I hit the save button, when the
prompt read replace existing file, I clicked yes. I thought prompt was
asking me to replace old file with new file, but it was actually asking me to
replace the new file with the old one. Now none of the changes were saved.
Is it possible to recover the updated version? I tried a file search, it
only found the old version of the presentation.

Was the "new" file ever saved? If not, then there really isn't anything
to find.
