Replacing corrupted normal.dot

Is there a way to get a clean copy of normal.dot so I can replace my
corrupted one?

It's Microsoft Word 2003 running under Windows XP.

If you delete or rename your current normal.dot while Word is not
running, the next time you start word it will build a default
normal.dot.

That's precisely the problem. The one Word creates is wrong. I need to
change something so Word creates the original one it came with. Any idea
how to do that?

If Word is creating a bad normal.dot, then I would assume Word has
become corrupted somehow. The next logical step would be to save any
files you created in the Word directories and then uninstall and
reinstall Word from its installation media/files.
