Replacing text in many Word files

User

I have a lot of .doc files created in MS Word97.
All the files contain text A.
How "automatically" replace text A into text B
in all the files?

If anyone knows how to do it, please tell me.

If necessary, I can do it in newer Word version.

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do...

You wish to find a utility that will plow through "a lot of" MS Word files
and
replace every instance of the capitalized letter "A" with the capitalized
letter "B"?

Hi User,

You may want to see if the methods at http://gmayor.com/batch_replace.htm
would be helpful to you.

You may also want to followup in a Word discussion group, including if it will work in versions of Word prior to Word 2003, using
the link below.

Not letter "A" with letter "B", but any text (string) which I named "A"
with any other text (string) which I named "B".

At the moment I am trying to use the method advised by Bob Buckland.

Hi,

Thank you very much.
I am afraid that it doesn't work with MS Word97. I don't know what
changes I should make in the macro to be able to use it in Word97.
So it is likely that I'll have to use my files in newer version of Word.
It is possible but it'd be more convenient if I could use it in Word97.

Hi User,

As mentioned previously you may want to followup in the Word specific discussion groups. That's where you'll usually find the folks
who are mentioned in that article that may be able to help to have it work with any differences to Word 97. Either the link in the
previous message or the one below should reach them.
