Replies and forwards delete original message

We are in an Exchange 5.5 environment and I have one user
who is now losing e-mails he either replies too or
forwards. Once the process is completed the original file
is removed from his inbox. As far as I know, nothing has
changed in his config. Very baffling. Any ideas? The
client is Outlook 2000
