Replies and Fwds in Inbox suddenly stopped being marked as so?

For some reason my forwards and replies are no longer being marked as such
and I do not seem to be able to find the settings for that. I thought it was
a feature of Outlook to always mark messages with a little arrow showing that
you have replied or forwarded the message...it always has before and just
stopped doing it for some reason...very strange. I actually can not remember
the last time it has worked properly...None of my e-mail in my Inbox have
been marked as replied or forwarded...and I have forwarded and replied to
many.

Adding the icons is normally how it works - but is affected by the type of
email account you are using.

What version of Outlook and what type of account do you use?

Outlook 2003 and I use gmail...so pop mail? It did work in the beginning.
For the first year at least? Now it does not. I never messed with icons and
thought it was a basic feature of Outlook to show the message has been
replied to or forwarded. I began noticing over the last 6 months or so...I
have used gmail for over 3 years?
