reply arrows and flags disappear

When I change from IMAP to Exchange or when I move old messages into new folders in Exchange, all of my reply (or forward) arrows in all old messages disappear as do my flags. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Are you moving messages between IMAP and Exchange? If so, then you're
effectively creating new messages, which means they've never replied to
them nor forwarded them. This is normal behavior.

You might try holding the Command key down as you move messages. This is
the keyboard command for "moving" messages and not copying messages.
However, I believe it's still the same thing as "move to new and delete
from old".
