reply icon does not change when replyying to an email

When I reply to an email, my icon in the preview list
cahnges so that I know I have replied to this email
without opening it up. This no longer changes. The only
changes made to my Win2k/Office 2K PC is the monthly
windows updates. Any idea how I can get my icon to
function properly?
