Reply or Forward Crashes Outlook 2000

I recently had to upgrade my cable modem, and then update the firmware on my
Linksys router. Since that point, I am not able to reply to, or forward,
messages in Outlook 2000. I get an "Outlook has caused an error in
<unknown>. Outlook will now close. If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

Restarting doesn't help, nor does using the Detect and Repair function, nor
does uninstalling and re-installing Office. I would gratefully accept any
suggestions, short of "percussive maintenance".

I had a fairly similar problem. I tried a bunch of aids, including
scanpst.exe, to no avail. However, the problems disappeared when I replaced
my mailbox.pst file with one I had backed up a little earlier. Seems to
work.

I'd tried that and it didn't help. What finally did was starting in "safe"
mode, then deleting all the messages in my Inbox. Apparently I had a corrupt
one in there someplace that put a kink in the whole operation. Anyway, it's
been working fine since then. Possibly replacing your *.pst file with the
old one did the same thing - got rid of a corrupt e-mail. Thanks for the
suggestion!
