'reply to' brings up own email address

I am trying to help someone via email and it is difficult so I ask here.

He says when he goes to reply to an email, his email address is in the to
field! could he have his settings mucked up somewhere and if so, where
should I be looking?

Is he perhaps hitting reply to all on a message? If you haven't seen this
firsthand, it's possible he isn't explaining things very well. See if you
can use Netmeeting or something to view his computer while he's online.
