reply to some emails sit in outbox and others go immediately

When replying to email messages, some just sit in the outbox and don't get
sent, while others go immediately. This happens with 4 or 5 correspondents
only. The only way I can reply then is to copy my reply message to a new
posting and send it as new mail. This works fine, but is a hassle.

Do you have an AV set for outgoing mail scanning?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Don Morosic asked:

I thought this was my problem but I see I do not have NAV outgoing mail
scanning turned on and even diaabled AV and firewall.

Here is what is happening. I type up an email (no Exchange server) and if I
click send (not save) and if I am not in the Outbox and then later click
send (I do not have send immediately) then everything is OK. However, if I
do the above with one email and it is selected in Outbox then the icon
changes from the single envelope (italisized) to the open envelope with the
letter. I then have to reopen the email then go out of Outbox then click
send again! I see no settings for this and this used to not be a problem. I
want to set the outbox folder where it doesn't change out of italisized
mode. Why is it no longer working (again not using the save which would not
send it).
