replying to an email and keeping it in inbox

I have M S 2000, Over the past month, when ever I get an email and I respond
to it by hitting either reply or forward it, the message no longer stays in
my inbox and if it has an attachment to it, the attachment goes away. My
question is, How can the email that I respond to stay in my inbox?
