Report by Task range for resource work

Hi Everyone - hope you can help me out with this. I am using MS Project
Professional 2003. I want to run a report that will show me the resource
work for a specific portion of the project plan. I have tried lots of
filters, groups, tables... still can't get what I want.... so close.. the
problem is that the resource work is not holding specific to the task range,
but rather showing me all work in the project for the resource, even if I
filter by date or task ranges. I am STUMPED!

Can anyone help? Much Appreciated.
Have a nice Day

Does this thread help?

Just from memory, I think MSP_WEB_TRANSACTIONS is the table you want,
but the time entries in that table can be compressed, so it's not as
simple as you would hope.

Also, this discussion is probably better suited for the
microsoft.public.project.developer group.

Hi James - thank you for the speedy response.. I was hoping that this report
could be generated in MS project; however, based on your reply it sounds like
I am out of luck on that wish, huh?
Too Bad.. seems like the robustness of this system got me again! ugh

Actually, you're not out of luck. I jumped to the conclusion you were
building reports with an external tool.

You shoud be able to easily set up a Portfolio Analyzer view for this
information. You can use the filters to filter to the date range and
project you want and then add dates as a column, Resources as rows and
Work as a data field.

Search for help on Portfolio Analyzer and I think you will get pretty
far.

Hi James - the analyzer will not give me the task information just overall
project info - I don't have an extender on the cube.
thanks. I did create a filter (Date range), group (group by resource) and
table (creates the columns I wanted to see and sorts by Resources) that give
me what I want; however, it still totals the resources overall work for the
project by hours and I wanted it to sum just the tasks that were being
displayed. I'll keep trying different scenarios.
Thanks again
Kathleen
